Eagle River Watershed Council
15th annual clean up

Vail Daily article
Eagle Valley TU was once again asked to co-host Water Wise Wednesday on June 30, 2010 at Brush Creek Park in Eagle. A monthly gathering sponsored by the Eagle River Watershed Council, aimed at increasing awareness of local issues facing our watersheds, EVTU took the event outdoors in order to introduce the community to our sport. The event began with a presentation by CDOW biologist, Kendall Bakich on how anglers should be cleaning their gear to avoid the transfer of invasive species from once watershed to another. Thank you Kendall!!! Following was a casting clinic led by EVTU board members and local fishing guides, we like to start the young! And finally the event wrapped up stream side with an entomology lesson given by former CTU President, Ken Neubecker. Always a fan favorite. We appreciate all of those who came out to enjoy the evening and learn a bit more about all facets of fly fishing in the Eagle Valley. We look forward to next year!

We are disappointed to report that House Bill 11-1034 to establish the 'Protect Our Rivers' license plate was defeated in the House Agricultural Committee. There were a variety of factors in play, but the bottom line was that several of the committee members did not want to see CTU become better funded.
At this point, we are considering options to modify the bill and bring it back at a later time, but it will not be in the 2010 legislative session.
We would like to thank you for supporting CTU and the license plate bill by signing the petition.
Sincerely, The Colorado Trout Unlimited Team

The Clean Energy, Community Investment, and Wildlife Conservation Act

Please visit our online action center to support legislation that would facilitate renewable energy development and provide funding to protect and restore fish and wildlife habitat. WHY WE CARE - As interest grows in developing wind and solar energy on public lands, it is imperative to manage development in ways that avoid, minimize and mitigate impacts to fish and wildlife habitat. The Clean Energy, Community Investment, and Wildlife Conservation Act (H.R. 5735 and S. 3587) is a bipartisan bill that would set up a pilot leasing program for wind and solar energy development on public lands and establish royalties and other payments associated with the use of public lands for energy production. A substantial portion of the royalty revenue would be dedicated to the conservation of fish and wildlife resources and to enhancing public access. The bill will help to balance energy production needs with the protection of fish and wildlife on public lands. WHAT YOU CAN DO - 1) Visit our online action center today and contact your members of congress to encourage them to co-sponsor the Clean Energy, Community Investment, and Wildlife Conservation Act. Feel free to use the model letter you will find there as a basis for your personal letter or email.
